The Mount Pearl-Paradise Skating Club’s Open Starlites proudly secured first place and the national Open category title at the 2025 Skate Canada Cup, achieving a total score of 200.82 points. Les Suprêmes from Saint-Léonard, Quebec, finished in second place with a score of 187.77, while Élite Synchro from Pierrefonds, Quebec, scored 184.53 to finish in third place. The event concluded on Sunday, March 2, in Waterloo, Ontario.
The competition featured over 650 athletes from 41 teams from across Canada, including participants from the Mount Pearl Paradise Skating Club, which comprised the Open Starlites, Novice Starlites, and Gold Starlites, as well as the Prince of Wales Skating Club’s Synergy Novice and Gold Teams competing for national titles in the novice, gold, and open categories.
“We are very happy with how we performed as a team,” shared Jillian Whiteway, co-captain of the Open Starlites. “We worked together towards a common goal, and we succeeded! It’s a great moment and we are proud to represent Newfoundland and Labrador.”
