
2026 FitzPatrick Feather Award Winners – Mount Pearl Paradise SC Open Starlites
37 Teams in 9 categories competed on Saturday, January 31, at the 2026 Atlantic Regionals/Elizabeth Swan Memorial Competition, hosted by the Mount Pearl Paradise Skating Club at the Paradise Double Ice Complex, During the Atlantic Regional Championships, 6 teams qualified to represent Newfoundland and Labrador and Atlantic Canada at the Skate Canada Cup, scheduled for March 6 – 8, 2026, in Waterloo, Ontario, featuring Novice, Gold, and Open teams who will compete for national titles. Qualifying in the Novice category are Mount Pearl-Paradise Skating Club’s Novice Starlites and the TP Inferno, representing the Trinity-Placentia Skating Club. Qualifiers in the Gold category are Fusion Gold from the Eastern Edge Synchronized Skating Club and Mount Pearl-Paradise Skating Club’s Starlites Gold. In the Open category, Mount Pearl Paradise Skating Club’s Open Starlites and the Eastern Edge Synchronized Skating Club’s Fusion Open also qualified for the national championships. The Mount Pearl-Paradise Skating Club’s Open Starlites are the 2025 National Synchronized Skating Open Champions.
The Elizabeth Swan Memorial Synchronized Skating Competition is a highly anticipated event that marks the beginning of the Synchronized Skating season in Newfoundland and Labrador. Teams from across the province eagerly gather to present their programs in a spirited display of skill and artistry, in preparation for the upcoming Skate NL Provincial Championships (Weekend 3) wjich will be supported by the local volunteer team of the Prince of Wales Skating Club, March 14-15, 2026, at the Jack Byrne Arena, Torbay.
Each year at the conclusion of the Elizabeth Swan Memorial Competition, the team earning the highest Grades of Execution is presented with the FitzPatrick Feather Award. The 2026 winners of the FitzPatrick Feather are the Open Starlites from the Mount Pearl-Paradise Skating Club.
